Dairy Farmers

Story Details

It's sunrise at Misty Brae but the Pacitti family has been hard at work since well before light...

Gino Pacitti is a second generation dairy farmer. He's rounding up these big girls for their 4.30am milking... It's hard work but the passion runs in his blood.

“Dairy farming's been my entire life basically. I was born into a dairy farming family. I did spend apart from my school years seven years away from the farm and I found I had a yearning back towards agriculture and back towards the dairy farming community,” says Gino.

This is the daily routine at Misty Brae farm in Myponga... Home to a herd of 600 Holsteins. Each produce up to 25 litres of milk a day... and weigh up to 900 kilograms.

Twice a day, every day, they deliver... but like so many other South Australian primary producers, these guys are doing it tough...
