BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY ON SOCIAL MEDIA .... IT COULD COME BACK TO BITE YOU...

"If you wouldn't say it to a person, to their face or if you wouldn't put it in a letter or business communication, don't put it on facebook,

..OR ELSE YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF IN COURT... FACING A FINE OF UP TO 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS...

'What he did was go on a public forum that was visible to the whole world on the internet anyone could see him, having big voice talking about what we did wrong as if it was truths," said Evan Byles.

FOR NINE LONG MONTHS... EVAN BYLES CLAIMS HIS BUSINESS SA MOTORCYLES.. HAS BEEN SLAMMED BY A FORMER CUSTOMER ON FACEBOOK FORUMS...

"It was a very targeted attack it was in a Yamaha sports car forum or group on facebook our core customers, people who like motorcylces and people we need as customers we need to survive as a small family business," said Evan Byles.

RICK BOSWORTH PUBLISHED HIS VIEWS ON THE SITE... AFTER AN ALLEGED BOTH REPAIR JOB ON HIS BIKE...

EVAN WAS NOTIFIED OF THESE COMMENTS BY ANOTHER CUSTOMER...

CONCERNED... HE CONTACTED RICK STRAIGHT AWAY...

" I wanted to see his bike immediately, he said he couldn't bring it in and so I offered to go to his house and pick it up or look at it there. If we did make a mistake I'm happy to fix it, move on give him what him needs to make him happy whatever is fair and reasonable,: said Evan Byles.

BUT DESPITE HIS EFFORTS... EVAN SAYS RICK NEVER TOOK UP HIS OFFER..

"He continued to claim he had documented proof and photos and on every request for them by me, he ignored those requests and I still haven't received any proof or anything to back up his claims," said Evan Byles.

NEVERTHELESS RICK CONTINUED TO POST THEM ON FACEBOOK....

"I feel it is my civic duty to warn people of the dangers of having their bike repaired at SA Motorcycles. My life is worth more than to trust them again. These kind of 'oversights' can make you dead," Rick wrote on facebook.

"I approached the people admisitrating the facebook groups to remove them and they did, this continued throughout the year, april, in july and in October he approached another one, we got that one taken down rapidly, and then two weeks later he had two more going," said Evan Byles.

SLANDERING ON FACEBOOK AND TWITTER IN GENERAL IS A GROWING TREND... SO-CALLED INTERNET TROLLS TAKE TO THEIR KEYBOARDS TO EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS AND ATTACK ANYTHING AND EVERYONE...

.. EVEN CELEBRITIES AREN'T IMMUNE ... TV PRESENTER CHARLOTTE DAWSON EXPERIENCED A SERIES OF VICIOUS RANTS ONLINE...

BUT YOU SHOULD THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE....

RECENT CHANGES TO SOUTH AUSTRALIAN LAW MAKE IT EASIER AND MORE AFFORDABLE FOR VICTIMS TO TAKE ON THEIR ALLEGED ATTACKERS ..

AND THEY CAN NOW CLAIM UP TO 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN DAMAGES

"Instead of old jurisdiction being 6 thousand dollars all of a sudden it comes to 25 thousand and for smaller defamation cases that might be the money you're talking about that might be an incentive particularly if theres not out of pocket expenses yourself, you can just give it a go,' said Peter Campbell.

FEARING THE REPUTATION OF HIS BUSINESS WAS BEING COMPROMISED...

EVAN DID JUST THAT...

"Motorcycles and customer service comes first money comes second, this guys trying to bring us down on those same things we build our business on made me quite angry," said Evan Byles.

LAWYER PETER CAMPBELL SAYS CUTTING THE RED TAPE / STREAMLINING THE PROCESS WILL RESULT IN A HUGE SPIKE IN THESE KIDS OF DEFAMATION CASES

"A lot of those cases that are resolved by saying ok i'll take that down and apologise will now result in proceedings. I really want the magistrate to put an injunction in place and this is the cheapest easiest way in getting an injunction against this guy so he can't take to social media and if he does he'll be in contempt of court," said Peter Campbell.

RICK BOSWORTH INITALLY CONTACTED US REGARDING THIS MATTER.. BUT THEN CHANGED HIS MIND AND IS REFUSING TO COMMENT.

HOWEVER HE MAINTAINS IS TELLING THE TRUTH AND HAS DOCUMENTS TO BACK IT UP...

"It is quite shocking that a business would go to the lengths of suing me, for $25,000, because I tried to warn my fellow motorcycling brothers and sister of the dangerous and unroadworthy condition I received my motorcycle in. I have not said anything untrue," Rick posted on Facebook.

"Truth is a complete defence in south Australia and throughout austral you have to remember it's truth in the meaning of the words not just the words on their face," said Peter Campbell.

BUT PETER CAMPBELL WARNS REPRESENTING YOURSELF.... ISN'T ALWAYS THE BEST SOLUTION...

"I think anything that pushes people into proceedings isn't a great idea because of there are some downsides emotionally financially from that point of view perhaps, if we see some of these cases staying in these proceedings we'll see wrong decisions, now of the evidence you would usually have would be there. I think people should get out from behind the keyboard and actually put their big boy pants on and say I've got a problem, lets talk about this, no problem," said Peter Campbell.

FIRST TONIGHT THE POPULARITY OF SOCIAL MEDIA MEANS MANY OF US ARE SHARING OUR DAILY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS MORE THAN EVER...
