When it comes to fashion, Adelaide doesn't usually get a look in but meet our local fashion pack...
“It's great to showcase the fashion here in Australian which Adelaide isn't generally known for but it's definitely been improving which is fantastic,” says model Tori who is the face of the event.
They’re creative, sassy and stylish and they're bringing high end labels to town in a night of fashion at the art gallery.
“This event as well as some other events that are up and coming in South Australia focusing on the fashion industry really give a place for us on the national playing field,” says Attitude Magazine stylist and event director Charlotte Chambers.
Charlotte says the night is about bringing style, art and a touch of glamour to Adelaide...
“There will be a runway which will stretch through the five galleries of the Elder wing for the Art Gallery of South Australia… so it's a very long catwalk for the models but they're all true professionals and it's a fifty meter catwalk so there's a show where we showcase some of Australian premium designers as well as cocktails in the beautiful Art Gallery gardens,” explains Charlotte.
“The aim of the gallery is to communicate art to the widest possible audience and this is the opportunity to bring lots of fun, to bring people into the gallery that wouldn't normally visit and to really contribute to the culture of the city,” says SA Art Gallery director Nick Mitzevich.
It's about interweaving art on the runway with the masterpieces on the walls…
“Many designers are also artists and many fashion houses throughout the world have collaborated with artists over many years… so this just continues that wonderful tradition that we've seen throughout the world,” says Nick.
“This year we've got Carla Zampati and her beautiful daughter Bianca Spender… for the first time this year Akira Zkawa, Collette Dinigan is another one,” says Charlotte.
From make-up artists to models, local food and wine, more than 30 South Australian businesses will be involved in making the magic happen and word is a few famous faces might also make an appearance.
“There could be some VIP guests… you'll have to stay tuned,” says Charlotte.
And of course let's not forget local fashion designers… a select few will get to showcase their masterpieces in a competition titled ‘The Blank Canvas. 21-year-old Thembie Jila is one of the lucky seven...
“It's a good base for getting your name out in Adelaide at least and getting your design style out there,” says Thembie.
“I think Adelaide is a boutique version of some of the larger states. We have everything that they have to offer... so whether you're into art or fashion, this is most definitely an event that you won't want to miss,” says Charlotte.
