Help & Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the site look different on my phone or iPad?
The Today Tonight website is designed to work on multiple devices. All devices have different screen resolutions, and processing capability. We've designed the site to adapt dynamically to your device, to give you the best performance possible. If viewing the site on a PC, you get all the bells and whistles. Newer iPads' deliver pretty much the same performance. Smart phones vary between every model, but you can be sure you are getting the best possible experience, on your device.
The website is blurry on my PC, why?
That means you have your computer monitor resolution set very low. As the site dynamically adapts to the available resolution, it will trim down to match your screen, but your monitor is "up-scaling" to fill the screen. Best bet is to make sure your resolution is set to at least 1280×1024. On a windows PC, just right click on the desktop, and select Screen Resolution, and change it accordingly.
Why do the videos play automatically?
To deliver you the best interactive experience, the videos play immediately, once loaded. You can simply stop them by clicking the pause button, or on smart devices with touch screens, just tap on the video and it will stop. Generally the text for a story will be a transcript of the video.
Can I search for a story?
Yes you can. At the bottom of the banner, on the right hand side, is a search field. Just type into the white box what you are looking for, select a category (if you like, you don't have to) and click the search button. A list of stories will be displayed underneath, with a brief summary, and a link to open the story page.
Can I suggest a story?
Of course. We love South Australians to bring us stories about what matters to them. It's what makes Today Tonight Adelaide the number one current affairs program. If you have an issue that you think would make a good story, or impact on other South Aussies, just head on over to the SUGGEST tab, and fill in the form. These emails go straight to the editorial team, who review the suggestions, and will contact you, if they think your story is worth telling. If you don't hear back immediately, don't be disheartened. Some stories need to be told right away, while others are not urgent. There is only room for a few stories every night, so competition is fierce. Fear not though. If it's an issue that really matters, you will hear from us.
How can I add a comment?
The comments engine on the Today Tonight site is entwined with facebook. What does this mean? Well, firstly, you need a facebook account to comment. Most people have them now, but if you don't, just head on over to facebook.com, and set one up. You don't have to divulge your personal details to anyone if you don't want to. Just go through the privacy settings, and keep yourself safe. One you have a facebook account, or if you already have a facebook account, you can select the Log in with facebook button. A dialog box will come up asking you to give todaytonightadelaide permission to post on your wall, and post to your friends. You must click OK to be able to comment on the website. Essentially, what this means is your comments will be posted on the today tonight facebook page, on the today tonight website, and it may enter your news feed, that you have commented on a story, sharing it with your friends.
When I post a comment nothing happens?
Sometimes, as you can imagine, the Today Tonight website is very busy, and facebook even more so. Therefore, it can take a couple of seconds for your comment to post to facebook, then come back remotely, and possibly longer of you are on a mobile device. If after some time, your comment is still not showing up, just refresh the page, and it should appear.
Why are you using facebook for comments?
Facebook is a great way to grow a community. Today Tonight Adelaide is SA based and has been for over 10 years, and we are proud of it. We think the free exchange of ideas and opinions can only be a good thing for South Australians, and the best way to do that, is to use a social media engine. We know not everyone watches Today Tonight, and we know not everyone visits the Today Tonight website. What we do know is South Australians are people with passions, dislikes, issues and stories, and we want you to share, and facebook is a great way to do that. Linking our site to facebook makes the sharing easier.
My comment has been removed. Why?
The comments are moderated, and comments that do not adhere to the Seven Network terms and conditions will be removed. As a guide, if you wouldn't put it in a letter, and post it to a newspaper with your own name on it, don't post it on the web. You can access the terms and conditions at the bottom of the webpage. Keep it clean, leave the racism at home, and don't slander anybody, and you should be fine.
How can I contact you?
Easy. You can go to the CONTACT US tab, at the top of the screen, and fill in the form. This sends us an email. Alternatively, you can give us a call on the numbers listed, or send us "snail mail" to the address provided.
Can I contact a team member directly?
If you go to the team page, you can view the profile of Today Tonight team members, and there is a contact form, if you would like to send them an email. As you can imagine, we get a lot of emails here at Today Tonight, so not every email will be responded to.
